I am a novice in world of computer technology.
Share features worked in EL Capitan until 16.08.2016. After Security Patch 2016-001 was installed it shows but freezes on clicking it for Email, Messages and AirDrops. It works for all others.
how to be bring about resolution to this without restoring...

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities. It's my understanding the Share option freezes in certain applications since updating your MacBook Air. Being able to share content is such a great feature, I don't think a day goes by where I am not sharing something. I want to help get this resolved with you.
First, I recommend testing this issue in safe mode. Starting in safe mode allows your computer to run certain checks and prevent some software from automatically launching. Please follow the steps to start in safe mode.
- Start or restart your Mac.
- Immediately after you hear the startup sound, press and hold the Shift key.
- Release the Shift key when you see the Apple logo appear on the screen.
After the Apple logo appears, it might take longer than usual to reach the login screen or your desktop. This is because your Mac performs a directory check of your startup disk as part of safe mode.
To leave safe mode, restart your computer without pressing any keys during startup.
Try safe mode if your Mac doesn't finish starting up
If the issue doesn't occur in safe mode but returns when you start normally, it's possible login items are the cause. Use the following link to assist with disabling login items

If the issue persists even when in safe mode, the cause could be specific user settings or files. In that case please follow the steps in the link below to test this in another user account.

Tried as you advised In safe mode as well as Guest User. Share does not work.

Thank you for trying the suggested steps and following up. Next, we recommend you reinstall OS X. This can be done without removing your data, however it's always a good idea to have make a backup when troubleshooting. Please follow the steps in the section "If your reinstalling for other reasons" in the link below.
It is not that it did not work after upgrading to El Capitan. It stopped working after installing Security 2016-001.
